Office Usage
- People who work remotely more than 40% of the time are not eligible for assigned office space and should instead use building hotel office spaces for on-site visits.
- Lab space is shared and allocated on a first come, first served basis. If servers are placed in lab space, there needs to be a compelling reason that they are there and not in the machine room.
- People have priority for office space. Servers and other equipment should be in the data center, in a lab, or in appropriate storage space.
Requesting Office Space
Current Staff: Submit a space request for moving to a different office.
New Staff: Submit a space request for office, telephone, and/or office network connection.
Submit separate requests for each individual.
Requesting space does not automatically create an account. Please submit an account request if needed.
Hotel Office Space
Hybrid and remote workers who do not have an assigned office may reserve a hotel office for days they are on campus. Make a reservation in Workplace Services.
Before you make your first reservation, submit a space request for a hotel office. You will be issued a key that is usable in any hotel space.
To make a reservation:
- Go to Workplace Services and login using your single sign on credentials when prompted.
- Select Reserve
- Click the search magnifying glass in the upper left to select the correct building. SDSC is composed of three buildings, and they are listed by their official building names, which are:
- San Diego Supercomputer Office Addition (commonly called SDSC West)
- San Diego Supercomputer Center (commonly called SDSC Central)
- San Diego Supercomputer East Expansion (commonly called SDSC East)
- Input dates and times for your reservation.
- Be Sure to select "Office" from the layout drop down.
- Click Search and select the requested office.
- On the following screen, enter a name for the reservation and confirm.
- You will receive an email confirmation with a calendar invite. You will also see the reservation on any subsequent login to Workplace Services.
Please do not leave any personal items or equipment in hotel office space.
Office Keys
Keys issued for use in assigned offices or hotel offices are the recipient’s responsibility to secure. The replacement fee for a lost key is $20.00. Key holders may also be held liable for any cost of rekeying locks, with an approximate cost of $100.00/lock. Keys are issued by the SDSC Facilities Manager, Sandy Davey.
Office Lockouts
If you are locked out of your office, go to SDSC Operations on the first floor of the SDSC Central building in room A-2. They are available 24 hours a day. You will need to leave an ID in exchange for a key to unlock your office.
Building Access Cards
You need a building access card for entry after business hours and for using alternate entryways. Office keys will not work on the exterior doors. If you have a UC San Diego One Card, it can be programmed for building access. To program your One Card or to be issued a separate building access card, go to SDSC Operations on the first floor of the SDSC central building in room A-2.
Locker Room & Bike Storage
SDSC has a locker room with showers and a bike storage area for occupants of the building. They are both located on the basement level of the SDSC Central building. Enter through B-02. Bikes must be tagged with identification, including your name and phone number. Do not leave any personal items behind in the lockers, on the floor, or in the shower area. Lockers are available for day use, not overnight.
