COVID Testing
As we return to onsite presence, when UC San Diego detects Covid-19 in the wastewater of SDSC, you will need access to fast self-tests in order to protect your colleagues, family, and friends.
UC San Diego provides options for COVID screening and testing free of charge to employees. The first time you test at the university, you must use a provider-administered test via drive-up or walk-through. After that, you may use any method, including the self-administered test.
Self-administered test via vending machine
For self-administered tests, the closest vending machine location to SDSC is in Eleanor Roosevelt College, next to the Laundry Room at the Student Activity Center.
To use the vending machine, you must have:
- UC San Diego staff ID card (to get the test)
- UC San Diego App on your mobile phone logged in via AD (to submit the test)
- MyChart account with UC San Diego Health (to receive results)
UCSD's Return to Learn site has a full list of vending machine locations.
Testing for Family and Members of the Community
UC San Diego Health offers drive-up testing to community members for a fee.
Off-Campus Testing Options
- Testing is available from your health care provider.
- USPS offers a limited number of free at-home test kits to residential households.
- Several locations in San Diego County offer no-cost testing.
- Many pharmacies sell self-test kits.
